17. What a Difference a Year Makes
Since the passage of PPA 2006, adoption of automatic plan features has dramatically accelerated; but the impact has been uneven. This workshop looks at how “auto” has changed the DC landscape and discusses the opportunity that lies before plan sponsors. It examines three case studies of plan sponsors whose differing implementation strategies produced substantially different results. Learn why plans are experiencing these disparities and what can be done to ensure that auto-features consistently move the retirement readiness needle forward. Explore, as well, other components of plan design that must be addressed to continue to capitalize on the momentum from PPA.

18. Uncle Same Wants You...To Be Responsible for Your Own Retirement

This informative workshop showcases a number of plan sponsors who have made changes to their plans and the services they offer their employees based on passage of the Pension Protection Act. The goal is to help their employees get to and through a comfortable retirement. Included in the session is national and industry-specific benchmarking data from many plan sponsors that can help you better understand how your plan and the services you offer your employees stack up. Gain insight, too, into 401(k) rates of return for participants who receive professional advice, invest in target date funds or go it alone.

20. Challenges Fiduciaries Face When Evaluating Target Date Funds and Monitoring Plan Fees

This advanced tutorial examines how to evaluate target date funds (TDFs) and benchmark plan fees. Hear an industry expert clearly explain how new regulations affect these two hot topics and what plan fiduciaries should do now. Learn how to boil down the complexity of TDFs into a few distinguishing factors and make effective comparisons. This prudent evaluation process also helps fiduciaries identify TDFs that may fall short of meeting the specific requirements of participants. Discover, as well, how to identify the right price for each service provided. Detailed case studies reveal problems fiduciaries face when identifying shared revenue versus actual plan costs.
